One Box Bass That Hits Way Bigger Than It Looks

The Rockford Fosgate P300-10 Class-D Amplified Subwoofer keeps things simple but seriously powerful by combining a 10-inch woofer, a 300-watt RMS amplifier, and a sealed MDF enclosure all in one ready-to-go package. No guessing, no matching amps, and no extra clutter in your build. It is a closed-loop system, meaning the driver, amp, and box are all tuned together so you get tight, accurate bass that feels controlled but still hits hard when the track drops. If you want real low-end without building a full custom setup, this is the shortcut that does it right.

Plug It In and Let the System Do the Heavy Lifting

Installation is where this sub really wins over everyday builders. With a quick disconnect power and ground terminal that supports up to 4-gauge wiring, you can install it fast or pull it out just as easily when needed. It also accepts both RCA and speaker-level inputs with Hi or Lo switching, so it works perfectly whether you are running factory audio or a full aftermarket system. Add in smart auto turn-on options like signal sensing, DC offset, or REM trigger, and you get a sub that wakes up exactly when it should without any manual hassle.

Deep, Tuned, and Always Under Control

Once it is running, the P300-10 gives you full control over how your bass feels in the cabin. The built-in 12dB/oct low-pass crossover lets you fine-tune frequencies from 50Hz to 200Hz so the bass blends perfectly with your speakers. You can dial in up to +12dB of bass boost centered at 45Hz for extra punch when you want it, and use the phase switch to lock in timing so the low end hits clean and aligned. With built-in thermal, voltage, and short-circuit protection plus a wired remote bass controller in the cabin, this sub stays safe, flexible, and ready for whatever music you throw at it.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • • Why does my P300-10 power on but produce almost no bass?
A powered light does not necessarily mean the audio signal is reaching the amplifier correctly. Users have reported situations where the unit powered up normally but produced little or no bass because of signal, remote-level, or input-connection problems.
  • • Why does the bass suddenly start working after several minutes of driving?
One recent P300-10 installation had power and signal confirmed but produced no bass for several minutes before suddenly working normally. This points toward an input/turn-on or signal-processing issue rather than simply a lack of amplifier power.
  • • Why does connecting the bass remote make my subwoofer act strangely?
The remote level control directly affects the amplifier's output level, and users have reported intermittent or complete bass loss that disappeared when a faulty or incompatible remote connection was removed. Checking the supplied remote cable and connections can therefore be worthwhile.
  • • Why can't I get the gain setting to behave the way I expect?
The P300-10's remote level control is not simply a second gain knob. Users have found that the amplifier gain needs to be established first, after which the remote control adjusts the available output level; misunderstanding this can make the gain appear ineffective.
  • • Why does my P300-10 sound too powerful at one remote setting and nearly disappear at another?
The remote level control can make a large difference in perceived output. One owner reported that a small change on the remote caused the bass to fall from excessive to very little, showing why the remote should be treated as a level control rather than a replacement for proper amplifier tuning.
  • • Why am I hearing buzzing instead of clean bass?
A buzzing or distorted sound can come from incorrect signal input, grounding, crossover configuration, or the turn-on connection. A recent P300-10 user experienced buzzing with confirmed power and RCA connections and was advised to check the turn-on method and crossover settings.
  • • Why are some bass frequencies missing or fading in and out?
A P300-10 owner reported certain frequencies repeatedly fading in and out around the 40 Hz region. Phase cancellation, signal tuning, crossover settings, and vehicle acoustics can all contribute to this type of frequency-specific problem.
  • • Why is the P300-10 difficult to install in some vehicles?
The enclosure itself is compact, but routing power through the firewall and finding suitable signal connections can be the hardest part. One owner described the firewall as the most difficult portion of the installation, while another reported that the complete installation took a couple of hours.
  • • Why does the P300-10 sometimes have trouble working with a factory stereo?
Factory systems can require a high-level connection or a suitable line-output converter, and incorrect signal integration can cause inconsistent bass or unwanted noise. Owners using factory premium systems have reported needing additional signal-processing hardware to integrate the powered sub correctly.
  • • Why does the P300-10 sometimes develop electrical or turn-on problems?
The amplifier depends on proper battery power, grounding, fuse protection, and remote/automatic turn-on operation. Rockford's troubleshooting guidance specifically recommends checking the fuse, clean chassis ground, battery voltage, and remote-turn-on voltage when the powered enclosure behaves incorrectly.

  • This was a great addition to a near stock Honda Accord. I installed it myself. It came with instructions for installation and adjustment. I like the 'Auto On' feauture so I didn't have to run an additional accessory wire. The sound is excellent and more than fills the car with sweet full bass.

  • Fits just right on my Sierra. Never had any problems with the installation. I’m now liking the idea of powered subs where I don’t to buy an amp to power up my sub/s. I think I am able to save a lot of money with this setup and the sound is still good too.

  • It hits the sweet spot for a 10-inch sub. Cost-effective and space-efficient.
